Softmart, Inc. was founded in 1982 selling software and grew into a national corporate and government reseller. In 1996, we began selling hardware. Today, Softmart has 24 regional offices nationwide, and services global industries.

Softmart founded as a software retail store in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
1987

1988
Grows to national reseller with sales representatives throughout the United States.
1988

1989
Signs first contract with the General Services Administration (GSA).
1989
Recognized third time as being in top three of fastest growing businesses by Inc. Magazine.
1990
Introduces A.C.C.E.S.S.™, a pioneering interactive electronic communications service. First of its kind.

Introduces the Electronic Licensing Program with support from major publishers. The company helps major publishers develop their licensing programs.

Introduces A.C.C.E.S.S.™ version 2.0 with more than 100 enhancements, new features and capabilities.

Introduces Upgrade With Ease, so customers can upgrade without providing title pages or disks.

First to sell customized Microsoft Select Agreement.

Selected to be one of five vendors on Microsoft Windows™ 95 Launch Support Team.

Appointed a Microsoft On-Line Licensing Partner; selected by Microsoft to provide licenses via the Internet.
